Real Food Christmas: Christmas Morning French Toast Breakfast Bake
A great make-ahead breakfast that uses many of the farm-fresh goodies and home baked bread that you have on hand to make your Christmas morning meal a success.
I am not going to say too much here other than this is our go-to Christmas brunch fave. We like it so well that we use it year-round with whatever berries are in season and have never had a version of French Toast Breakfast Bake that we didn't love. The syrup really is the perfect complement to the bake with sweet berries bursting in your mouth in every bite.
The girls and I did a Youtube video on this a few years back. We hope you enjoy seeing them at work in the kitchen. This really is one of those perfect "kids in the kitchen" kind of recipes. To make this French Toast Breakfast Bake you will need:
12 slices of sourdough bread (can be whole loaves)
1-2 Cups fresh berries of choice (save 1/2 for syrup)
2 8oz bars Cream Cheese
1 Dozen Eggs
2 Cups Milk
1/3 Cup Maple Syrup or Honey
1t. Vanilla
Berry Sauce Ingredients:
1/2-1 Cup Reserved Berries
1 Cup Cane Sugar
2T. non-gmo Cornstarch
1t. Pure Vanilla Extract
1 Cup Water
1 T. Butter
